Our clients owned a detached, natural stone built traditional dwellinghouse in a lovely area in Scone outside Perth. Whilst the house already incorporated a large family space, the rear of the house lacked natural light and the kitchen area was limited in size.
We were asked to design a modern, light filled space to be used as a living room that took in the views of their beautiful mature garden. Upstairs the house lacked a master bedroom. An upper storey was therefore designed to incorporate this element with a vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling windows with a Juliette glazed balcony.
A dressing room and en suite bathroom was also included. Externally our clients were keen to create more contemporary feel with the use of cedar cladding, smooth white render and anthracite aluminium bi-fold doors and windows. The space created is now light and airy and has created a substantial family area that compliments their traditional home beautifully.
