The brief for this project was to create a garden room at the rear of our client’s house. The new room would take in views of the garden and provide a multi-purpose family area in a space restricted terraced house.
The design included a vaulted ceiling with semi-open plan openings allowing views from the new kitchen area, a feature wood burning stove and a large area of glazing opening out onto a timber deck space. Internally the house’s ground floor area was opened up with the removal of internal supporting walls into the hallway and between the front and back living spaces. The kitchen was moved into the former dining room area.
This has created an inviting and social living space for this family home, transforming this formally dark, cramped terraced house, flooding it with light and maximising the potential of every square inch.
